چکیده

Modern processors use speculative execution to improve performance. However, speculative execution requires a checkpoint/restore mechanism to repair the machine’s state whenever speculation fails. Existing checkpoint/restore mechanisms do not scale well for processors with relatively large windows (i.e., 128 or more). This work presents Turbo-ROB, a checkpoint/restore recovery accelerator that can complement or replace existing checkpoint/restore mechanisms. We show that the Turbo-ROB improves performance and reduces resource requirements compared to a conventional Re-order Buffer mechanism. For example, on the average, a 64-entry TROB matches the performance of a 512-entry ROB, while a 128and a 512-entry TROB outperform the 512-entry ROB by 6.8% and 9.1% respectively. We also demonstrate that the TROB improves performance with register alias table checkpoints effectively reducing the need from more checkpoints and the latency and energy increase these would imply.

The Use of Efficient Cost Allocation Mechanisms for Congestion Pricing in Data Networks

The ability to restore a virtual platform from a previously saved simulation state can considerably shorten the typical edit-compile-debug cycle for software developers and therefore enhance productivity. For SystemC based virtual platforms (VP), dedicated checkpoint/restore (C/R) solutions are required, taking into account the specific characteristics of such platforms. Apart from restoring th...

Low cost E-mail over HF with OFDM and turbo coding techniques

This paper presents a new low cost e-mail system for the HF band (3–30 MHz) based on free software and commodity hardware. The core of the system is a 2500 bps OFDM data modem enhanced by turbo codes and a powerful ARQ protocol. The modem has been deeply tested with a Watterson HF channel simulator [?, ], studying the impact of different configurable parameters and comparing its codification st...

Thermal Analysis of Turbocharger Steel Gasket via Experimental Test

Increasing the power (torque) of nowadays engines, along with reduction of fuel consumption and dimensions of them, cause to the use of turbocharged systems. Since turbo chargers are exposed to the exhaust hot gases and have a high operating speed, it is necessary to utilize high technology design and special materials with high cost. The temperature of the exhaust system with gasoline fuel som...
